Down On The Farm
We spent last week and some of this week down on the farm, learning all about farm animals. We talked about which animals live on a farm, what they look like, what they eat, and what they give to people. I put grass and farm toys in the sensory table. It was clearly a hit. Their favorite books for this unit were Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type and Interrupting Chicken.
Thanks to Devani's mom, we had some great pictures of real farm animals!

Spring Open House
On Thursday, April 11th we had an Open House at Lytle Primary. Many parents came out to see what our students have been learning about for the past few weeks. Pre-K has been focusing on plants and working in our garden. For Open House we had sensory tables for children to explore soil and seeds, a seed planting station, and a sticky table to investigate the parts of plants. The students had a great time showing their parents the activities they've been enjoying.

PTO Spring Festival
Thank you to all of our wonderful parents for your donations of Goldfish snacks, snack bags, and hard work! Your generosity helps to raise money for the Pre-K field trips.
Our Fish Game was BY FAR the most popular. The line stayed long until we ran out of snacks and fish. We learned a few things that will make next year even more successful and we had a great time. I am the luckiest teacher! I get to work in a wonderful community and I have fantastic parents and students.

Spring Celebration
We started our very full day of celebrating with an egg hunt on the playground. There were eggs covering the grass! The students had a wonderful time "finding" eggs and oooo-ed and aaaaah-ed over the shiny and sparkly eggs. After a treat of eating lunch in our classroom, we walked over to the park. We played on the playground, blew bubbles, drew with sidewalk chalk, and cracked confetti eggs on each other. We had snack at the park before walking back to the school. The children were worn out, but smiling the whole way back.
I am so very grateful to have such generous parents. You provided water bottles, snacks, stuffed eggs, confetti eggs, bubbles, chalk, time and muscle (those water bottles are heavy!). Thank you for making our celebration a success. You're the BEST!!!

5-A-Day Parade
We came back from Spring Break ready to show off our love of healthy food. The Pre-K and Head Start classes have been learning about making healthy choices including eating plenty of fruits and veggies. With that in mind, families created a costume to show off their child's favorite fruit or veggie. We had a great variety! There were grapes, pineapple, apples, broccoli, strawberries, pickles, cucumbers, oranges, watermelon, and a banana. It was quite an accomplishment and so much fun to get 5 classes of young children costumed and lined up in the hall. The whole school lined up outside along with lots of camera clicking family members. We paraded around the tricycle track several times waving a smiling before heading back to class. All in all, a very successful parade.

Head in the Clouds
We have had a great week learning about things in the day and night sky as well as solving math word problems and learning about the letter Gg. We had a fun lesson outside learning about clouds. We read some books, looked at the stratus clouds that were in the sky, and painted clouds with puffy paint.
